A collapse of gigantic proportions saw Pwllheli scrape over the victory target of 153 after at one stage being 120 without loss. The opening partnership had realised 120 runs with an excellent hard-hitting 60 from Simon Williams and 38 from the dogged Ian Evans, before the late introduction of Carmel spinner Gwion Dafydd caused havoc amonst the Pwllheli batsmen as he grabbed 5 quick wickets for just 26 runs to set up a nail-biting finish. With 8 still needed No.9 batsmen Wes Pengelly struck a few hefty slogs and was also dropped before young Charlie Taylor nudged the winning run with 6 balls remaining. Earlier Carmel had totalled 152 with Dafydd Bailey top-scoring with 68, Pwllheli spinner Ben Dabson grabbing 3 wickets for 35 with Mawer,Hughes and Pengelly all taking two apiece ,before Pwllheli's confident response turned into an unexpected thriller.
On Sunday the sun shone as Pwllheli Cricket Club hosted their eagerly awaited annual 6-a-side tournament featuring 15 local sides in 10 hours of cricket and entertainment attended by around 250 people. The semi-finals saw The Lion Inn,Tudweiliog defeat Nefyn Constitutional Club whilst Team Tantos beat Team Bryan Williams. The final was won by Tantos scoring 66 runs from their 5 overs with Chris Twm batting well to defeat The Lion who could only manage 43 but had the consolation of their man,Tanc, being awarded Player of the Tournament.
